Abstract
A 53-year-old woman had recurred mucinous carcinoma of sacrum. After wide excision of tumor, she had local flap for covering sacral defect. However, the flap got congestive. Although leech therapy was applied, the flap became necrotic. And debridement and secondary local flap from upper back were done. The V.A.C. (Vacuum Assisted Closure) therapy was used for conservative method of necrosis after flap operations. After application of V.A.C. for 2 months, the wound size was decreased from 11 cm ¡¿ 7 cm to 5 cm ¡¿ 4 cm, and periwound edema was decreased, so the patient could walk. The V.A.C. therapy is a very good option for conservative method of necrosis after flap operations and patient¡¯s rehabilitation. (J Korean Wound Management Soc 2008;4:105-108)
